Shading and diffusing screens

The sun is our best friend, but it can also be our worst enemy since it may cause the temperature and light intensity inside the greenhouse to rise to extreme levels.

Shading screens reflect sun radiation, thus preventing it from entering the greenhouse, thus protecting the crop from burning, the more aluminium strips in the screen cloth, the higher the shading percentage will be.

A new development in screening is the use of so called diffusing screens, where white strips are used in the cloth instead of aluminium strips. These white strips also provides a shading effect and will reflect sun and heat from directly entering the greenhouse. However, the specific fabric of these screens at the same time diffuses the light, thus allowing it to penetrate  deeper into the crop, resulting in more photosynthesis in the leaves and a lower air and plant temperature inside the greenhouse.
